Colonel Col. Kurt Anderson

Colonel Kurt R. Anderson is the 136th Airlift Wing Deputy Wing Commander, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas. The 136th Airlift Wing is currently in conversion from the C-130H to the C-130J. Once complete the wing will be a fully operational combat unit that provides worldwide support for Air Mobility Command and Air Expeditionary Force employment. He also leads the support for the 254th Combat Communications Group. The wing is responsible for organizing, equipping, and training personnel for worldwide deployment by providing combatant commanders with combat-ready forces while supporting Air Mobility Command’s airlift requirements with eight assigned C-130J aircraft. The 136th Airlift Wing also provides these same ready forces to the Governor and the Texas Military Department to aid in domestic disaster response and defense of the homeland.

Lt. Col. Anderson graduated from Texas A&M University and was commissioned in 2002 at the Academy of Military Science, Tenn. He joined the 153rd Airlift Wing, Wyoming Air National Guard and completed Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training at Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma. While assigned to the 153 AW, he advanced from C-130H copilot to instructor pilot and was selected and certified for C-130H Modular Aircraft Fire Fighting System (MAFFS) airdrop operations and employed MAFFS for DOMOPS relief missions in the Mountain West region. Anderson then transferred to his hometown unit, the 136th Airlift Wing, Texas Air National Guard, in 2011. He graduated from the C-130H U.S. Air Force Weapons Instructor Course in 2012 and accepted an Active Guard Reserve position in 2013. Serving in a variety of positions, his notable positions include Squadron Chief of Training, Group Standards/Evaluation pilot and Chief of Safety. Anderson also deployed in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, INHERENT RESOLVE, as well as Joint Forge and Coronet Oak.

Prior to his current position, the colonel was the Commander of the 136th Operations Group.
