Col. Kurt Anderson is the 136th Airlift Wing Deputy Wing Commander, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas. The 136th Airlift Wing is a fully operational tactical airlift unit that also includes the 254th Combat Communications Group. The wing is responsible for organizing, equipping, and training personnel for worldwide deployment by providing combat-ready forces meant to support Air Mobility Command’s airlift needs. The wing consists of eight C-130J Super Hercules aircraft. The wing also provides ready forces to the Governor of Texas and the Texas Military Department to aid in domestic disaster response and homeland defense.
Col. Anderson graduated from Texas A&M University and received his commission in 2002 at the Academy of Military Science, Tenn. He joined the 153d Airlift Wing, Wyoming Air National Guard, where he advanced from co-pilot to instructor pilot and was certified in C-130H Modular Aircraft Fire Fighting System (MAFFS) operations. During his time in Wyoming, he employed MAFFS against wildland forest fires in the Pacific Northwest and Mountain West regions. Anderson transferred to his hometown unit in 2011, the 136th Airlift Wing, Texas Air National Guard. He graduated from the C-130H USAF Weapons Instructor Course in 2012 and accepted an Active Guard and Reserve position in 2013. He served in a variety of positions including 181st Airlift Squadron Commander, deployed Expeditionary Airlift Squadron Commander, Director of Operations, Wing Chief of Safety, Wing Executive Officer, Chief of Training, Chief of Tactics, and Group Standards/Evaluation pilot. Anderson flew combat missions and combat support missions during Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, INHERENT RESOLVE, FREEDOM’S SENTINEL, RESOLUTE SUPPORT, and SPARTAN SHIELD. Prior to his current position, the colonel was the Division Chief and Commander, 136th Operations Group, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas.
