NAVAL AIR STATION JOINT RESERVE BASE FORT WORTH, Texas -- The Texas National Guard is placing elements of the 136th Airlift Wing, Texas Air National Guard, and the 236th Military Police Company on stand-by, to assist and support authorities with border operations in preparation for the repeal of Title 42. These actions are part of a larger strategy to use every available tool to fight back against the record-breaking level of illegal immigration and transnational criminal activity.
Title 42, a public health emergency order used to expel asylum-seeking migrants from the U.S. is currently set to expire on December 21, 2022. The end of Title 42 could lead to a massive influx of illegal immigrants allowing criminals to further exploit gaps while federal authorities are inundated with migrant processing.
A designated number of 136th Airlift Wing C-130J cargo aircraft, air crews, support, and response Airmen are now on alert, prepared to provide any necessary capability at the Governor’s direction explains Col. Matt Groves, 136th Airlift Wing commander.
“State support is a key capability of the National Guard, and our Texas Citizen Airmen are trained and ready to respond to our citizens, whether in the aftermath of a hurricane, a pandemic, or any other crisis scenario,” said Groves.
The Security Response Force from the 236th MP Company can be rapidly deployed to border areas. Trained in Civil Disturbance Operations and Mass Migration Response, the Security Response Force is a flexible capability for the Texas National Guard to safeguard the border and repel and turn-back illegal immigrants.
